Artistic landmark in the new Speicherstrasse digital quarter
In the middle of the newly emerging digital quarter in Dortmund’s harbour, the audiovisual artwork transPORT is an artistic landmark that reflects the creative and experimental image of the new urban quarter and radiates across to the traditional harbour world. The gables of the steel processing centre, which extend far out over the water, become an urban screen for the video-sound installation.
Digital art builds a bridge to the traditional harbour world
transPORT documents the transformation of the harbour district in an artistic way and builds a bridge between the traditional and the new harbour world – an artistic contemporary document that lets you feel the founding spirit of this place. The people in the harbour district experience the process of construction and the dawn of a new era at the place of origin itself – a transformation of history into visions.
Live event as starting point for a new experimental space
The performance of transPORT could mark the starting point of the new digital cultural centre in Dortmund. Initially planned as a temporary installation, the urban screen could become an attractive long-term presentation and experimental space for the new players in the digital quarter and attract international media artists and start-ups.
The project has already been worked out in detail. The key players on site have pledged their support. The financing is still open.
